Overview
Even if you've had an HSA before, starting up a new account can feel overwhelming and confusing. Not to worry; we've covered everything you need to know, consider, and do.
Open Enrollment
When electing your benefits for the next year, make sure you have a firm understanding of how an HSA can help you. Visit our open enrollment guide for more information.
Make sure you qualify for an HSA
If your employer offered this HSA alongside a health plan, just make sure you're not also claimed as a tax dependent, covered by another health plan (like your spouse's), or on Medicare.
If you have individual health insurance (no employer assistance), you need to make sure your high-deductible health plan qualifies for an HSA. Review the requirements here.
Enroll in an HSA
If an HSA from Further is part of your employer's benefits offering, they'll tell you how to enroll. Most employers handle enrollment for you, once you elect your benefits.
If you are opening an individual HSA (no employer assistance), complete our online HSA Application.

Provide the HSA worksheet
During the meeting, distribute the worksheet. It shows employees how to estimate their potential costs and savings with an HSA. Using their own information, employees can use real-life situations to explore how an HSA might work for them.
Support employees during enrollment
Congratulations! Your employees understand the value in making the most of their health care dollars and have decided to enroll in an HSA. You can continue to play a key role by ensuring they have access to the resources they need to open and use their accounts hassle-free.
Share frequently used enrollment forms
HSA one-time IRA rollover request form: Authorizes a one-time rollover of funds from an employee’s IRA to an HSA.
HSA transfer request form: Authorizes transferring an employee’s current HSA into a Further HSA.
Provide employees direct access to their new online account
Post or provide a link to Further’s mobile-enabled website at [www.hellofurther.com or partner SSO link]. The site works well for any screen size—whether it’s a desktop monitor, laptop, tablet, or mobile phone.
Remind employees where to access educational resources
You can do this with a simple email with a link to information and forms.
